100 Point Rating Guide

96-100 Extraordinary A wine of finesse, complexity, and expression. True to variety and region. Perfect balance of flavors with a long finish.
90-95 Excellent True to variety and region, with terrific complexity and balance. While not a wine for the ages, a superior example.
85-89 Good Meets your expectations, with sound flavors and balance. Might have limited complexity or be short on the palate. A sound wine.
80-84 Average Drinkable, might not have as much varietal character. Simple flavors, no flaws, but nothing special.
75-79 Below Average Might contain one flaw, simple straight-forward flavors, off-balance, unpleasant.
60-74 Undrinkable, Flawed Contains significant flaws. Unpleasant, not commercially acceptable.

These tasting notes are for the *Reserve Stagecoach* Stonehedge Cab -- NOT the normal Stonehedge Cab.

Aroma smells of rich ripe oak, asking you nicely to take a sip. The taste was pleasant, with layers of different lingering enjoyable flavors. The feel was delicate, yet abrasive at the same time, where it felt chalky, powdery, and almost sandy at times.

The slightly spicy finish lasts for a very long time, with a full mouth coat that you have to work to cleanse. Hours later remains of the wine still clungs to my mollars.

Overall I enjoyed this wine, but it would probably be better paired with a bold meal. It maybe a little overpowering on its own.

These tasting notes are for the *Reserve Stagecoach* Stonehedge Cab which was available at Traders for 12.99 in San Francisco as of this writing.

Amazingly rich nose of jam and figs, cinnamon and chocolate, nutmeg and cloves and just general yumminess.

A wonderful, soft and smooth mouthfeel that hits every part of your palate but doesn't try and rock your world the way some reserve cabs tend to. Elegant and clean, this wine finishes relatively quickly but still leaves you satisfied.

We decanted this for an hour b4 serving, and I bet it would've gotten even nicer after another hour.

I'm not gonna beat around the bush here .... this wine is a fricking insane deal. How trader joes managed to sell this for 12.99 is beyond me, but if you're not looking for your keys and hauling to TJ's right now, you very well could be out of your mind.

Fruity somewhat oaky nose. Was very surprised how strong the taste of vanilla was initially. After an hour or two in the decanter, the vanilla flavor had dissipated and the finish was stronger. Very smooth and lovely wine.

1This QPR winner is still available at TJ's

I just called all 3 Trader Joe's (4/24/07) in the SF area and they all have this wine in stock. Black label, white writing, no large graphics. It's a winner.
