100 Point Rating Guide

96-100 Extraordinary A wine of finesse, complexity, and expression. True to variety and region. Perfect balance of flavors with a long finish.
90-95 Excellent True to variety and region, with terrific complexity and balance. While not a wine for the ages, a superior example.
85-89 Good Meets your expectations, with sound flavors and balance. Might have limited complexity or be short on the palate. A sound wine.
80-84 Average Drinkable, might not have as much varietal character. Simple flavors, no flaws, but nothing special.
75-79 Below Average Might contain one flaw, simple straight-forward flavors, off-balance, unpleasant.
60-74 Undrinkable, Flawed Contains significant flaws. Unpleasant, not commercially acceptable.

Hacienda Cava Antigua-Cozumel

Feb 12, 2009

This is probably the world's best TEQUILA. Cava Anitgua produces its product in the Jalisco state of Mexico but offers a 'factory store' in Cozumel. Cava makes an unbelievably large variety of tequilas in over 15 unique flavors including mocha (think Baileys), cherry and amaretto. The Reposado & Anejo are classics made from specially grown "blue agave" cactus using traditional techniques both aged 8 years in oaken casks. The brand affords truly complex flavors that develop subtly as you drink. The aroma of the Reoposado & Anejo is pleasant & distinctive with gentle traces of moist oak. Both have temendous body & character with Anejo being perhaps smoother & Reposado having the edge on flavor albeit with a more stinging bite. However, unlike the sticky sweet Patrons, et al, this tequila does aford you the distinctive bite or kick associated with the classic beverage. Salt & lime are not considered proper to use and would totally mask the varied tastes. As with most alcohol, the better the purety, the lesser the unpleasant effects associated with over indulging. This product is extremely pure and certainly can be called one of if not the best. Make no mistake, you will feel the effects after 2 ounces but you will not suffer headache or other discomfort after a long night of cards, Habano tabak and beautiful senoritas. This tequila is 'the bomb' and a 'must do' experience at lease once in your life.
