If Bryant Family Vineyards made a Syrah, it would probably taste like this. The color is very deep as you would expect. What is surprising is the subtlety, complexity, and sheer elegance this wine displays on the nose and palate. Make no mistake, this wine is nowhere near ready to drink...but the sweet perfume of white flowers, pain grille, violets, cassis, blueberries and wet stones is unbelievably alluring, even in it's infancy. On the palate the wine is still closed but weighty, and even 45 seconds after swallowing the deep, powerful flavors of fruit, stones, and grilled steak persist. It is hard to judge just how long the finish lasts, but it lasts. The wine was in my glass for almost 3 hours and I was almost unable to bring myself to finish it because it kept getting better. This is THE BEST Syrah I have tasted from California (Shafer comes close), and the best Syrah I have tasted this year. Highest recommendation.
ARE THERE NO CHALLENGERS?
