Feb 11, 2007Firestone Estate Sauvignon Blanc, 2005
I thought this wine was rather tasty. Tasted some mellon and pear, yet citrisy. Had a nice thin finish that ended at the right time.
Feb 11, 2007Firestone Santa Ynez Syrah, 2004
Very berry and oaked out to the max. Full finish with a grip of substance.
Feb 11, 2007Fess Parker Syrah, 2003
Mild and smooth initial mouth feel. And wow, it has some major tannins for a really sticky finish. If you like a big finish you should really like this wine.
Feb 11, 2007Casillero Del Diablo Carmenere, 2005
Straight out. A darn good deal. This is an impressive wine for 6.99.
Smooth, yet flavorful. Dense, but airy. I like it. Smoke, earth, chocolate, and dry.
On the negative side, could be a bit more structured and/or extra acidity. When it hits your mouth, there's not a bang. But nonetheless, good deal.
Feb 11, 2007Fess Parker Santa Barbara Pinot Noir, 2005
Very nice spicy finish. And if you let it sit on your tongue for a while you'll discover lots of different and enjoyable pinot-like flavors.
Feb 11, 2007Fess Parker Viognier, 2005
This wine is definitely floral, but didn't think it was quite crisp enough. Lots of creamy french vanilla.
Feb 11, 2007Camelot Cabernet Sauvignon, 2001
Thought it was good, decent body and tannins with a pleasant cherry flavor.
Feb 11, 2007Meridian Merlot, 2004
Nice berry aromas, but maybe to much alcohol vapors on the nose. Plum flavor really stands out on the tongue, almost like hoisen sauce. I recommend pairing this bad boy with some Vietnamese Pho.
Feb 11, 2007Martin & Weyrich Pinot Noir, 2005
I loved the nose on this wine. It was well balanced with decent spice on the tip of the tongue. There were lots of little sensations on the palette (tomato, even some mint). And the finish was what you'd expect out of a quality pinot. Highly recommended.
Feb 11, 2007Pepi Shiraz, 2005
Pretty uninspiring. Had this by-the-glass at a cafe in Richmond district for $5 a glass.
No nose, too tart. Thin, and some finish but nothing to talk about.
Feb 11, 2007Fess Parker Syrah, 2003
Deeeep ruby color ink blotting kinda stuff. Vanilla, smoke, spice on the noise. Dense.
Feb 11, 2007Fess Parker Santa Barbara Pinot Noir, 2005
Mushrooms and damp earth on nose. Great spicy finish and lengthy. Great example of the Pinot varietal. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Feb 11, 2007Fess Parker Viognier, 2005
Some kick on the finish, and nice floral nose. Bit harsh on the finish
Feb 11, 2007Fess Parker Ashley's Vineyard Chardonnay, 2005
Honey and floral aromas, a bit sweet on the tongue but finished light. Real nice sipper -- but no finish.
Feb 11, 2007Firestone Merlot, 2003
Chewy/Jammy -- but tasted a bit old, possibly bottle had been out for too long.
Some caramel something on the finish, and a bit thin. Could have been the bottle.
Feb 11, 2007Firestone Santa Ynez Syrah, 2004
A very straightforward wine. A bit thin, water, some cherry on the nose. Not bad for a sipper, no food neccesary -- which is kinda rare for Syrahs these days.
Feb 11, 2007Firestone Estate Chardonnay, 2004
A bit sweet/honeysuckle on the nose, initial sip. Some butter but not over the top, almost no finish.
Feb 10, 2007Martin & Weyrich Pinot Noir, 2005
Bold, spicy, and an in-your-face style Pinot. Lovely aromas of strawberry, pepper, cloves...
Structured, acidic and balanced tannic mouthfeel, although a bit tart. Some cherries and blueberries on the mid-palate.
Quite a finish, don't wait for it to end because it won't.
Would pair well w/ heavy meats, aka this is not your grandma's pinot. This was the 05 so could prbly benefit from an hour in the decanter.
Our local Trader Joe's salesmen rec'd this, and for a $19 pinot, this was pretty damn good.
Feb 08, 2007Rosemount Hill Of Gold Shiraz, 2003
Deeeeeep ruby, inky, chewy jammy. Spicy, but needs a steak w/ it or will rot your teeth off. Tannic and bold as hell.
Nice finish, **DECANT for 2 hours**, bold.
Feb 08, 2007Castle Rock Columbia Valley Merlot, 2004
Nice upfront fruit, and ok balance, but some pretty heavy stank in the start and the finish. Off in more ways then one, but not horrible. Try nose plugs.
Feb 08, 2007Chateau Souverain Merlot Sonoma, 2002
Toast, minor fruit but not a big nose. Smooooth mouthfeel, crazy smooth, supple. Nice cherry chiptole finish. Not bad but, not great
Feb 08, 2007Bonello Cabernet Sauvignon Primitivo, 2003
Dark fruits, spice, cloves in the nose, earth. Nice nose.
Nice balance/structure in the mouth. A tad sour on the finish.
Not too shabby for the money. We got this at a liquidator but i would pay 8 for it no prob.
