Mar 23, 2007Chateau Ste. Michelle Merlot, 2003
Light flavor, yet very tannic. Taste like an older vintage. Slightly viney, some white pepper.
Mar 23, 2007Kenwood Cabernet Sauvignon, 2003
Opaque purpler color. Full nose, fruity, round, sweet, few tannins.
Mar 23, 2007Franciscan Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Estate, 2003
Deep red, excellent fruity nose. Rich flavor, weak finish. May just need a bit of time to open up.
Mar 23, 2007Casillero Del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon, 2005
Bold purple color, peety/mild nose. Very tannic, tastes a bit flat. Not my fave cab. Not enough meat.
Mar 23, 2007Beaulieu Vineyard Merlot Coastal, 2004
Rich red color w/ a wonderful round nose.
Softer tannins, not too dry, begins w/ some acid and ends clean and warm.
Mar 23, 2007Chateau Souverain Merlot Sonoma, 2004
Mild nose. Very subtle, dry. Strong tannins, but a decent merlot.
Mar 23, 2007Chateau Ste. Michelle Merlot, 2003
Deep purple red, with slight smoky fragrance. Currants initially, a bit thin and slightly sour aftertaste. I don't personally like merlot, and this tastes like an average merlot.
Mar 23, 2007Bogle Merlot, 2004
Red w/ nice texture. Weak nose w/ a bit of fruit cherry. Taste was livelier than i would have thought, slightly more acidic.
Would pari well w/ manchego cheese.
Mar 23, 2007Casillero Del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon, 2005
Dark purple, spicy, heavy yet fresh. A bit rough.
Mar 23, 2007Chateau Souverain Merlot Sonoma, 2004
Ruby, floral, acidic. Nice fruit but a bit tart/acidic.
Mar 23, 2007Kenwood Cabernet Sauvignon, 2003
Purple cherry. Even, balanced currant. Wine tastes young.
Mar 23, 2007Franciscan Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Estate, 2003
Dark, rich, but no brown --red. Bright, but boring. Some anise, cherry, tannins.
Mar 23, 2007Casillero Del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon, 2005
Bright red brown edges. Licorice, cherry, oak, tobacco. Spicy, young, tight, needs a few years.
Decant or let bottle age for 2-3 years before drinking.
Mar 23, 2007Beaulieu Vineyard Merlot Coastal, 2004
Too dark, reddish. BORING FLAT. Maybe a function of being open too long? Even, a little acidic flat.
Mar 23, 2007Chateau Souverain Merlot Sonoma, 2004
Good rich ruby. Oaky, a bit of currant. Tannins, oak, tart, heat.
Mar 23, 2007Chateau Ste. Michelle Merlot, 2003
Dark, almost opaque. Somewhat flat, alcohol a bit of fruit. Tannins, spicy. Too tannic.
Mar 23, 2007Bogle Merlot, 2004
Bright ruby, crimson. Not too oaky for a merlot. Spice, blackberry, acid. Cherry, too astringent. Too much tannin, bright fruit.
Somewhat boring. 2 dimensional, but drinkable nonetheless. Better as a food wine. Good with red meat/braised pork in tomatoes.
Mar 23, 2007Chateau Souverain Merlot Sonoma, 2004
Nice ruby, spicy and aromatic. Medium body some tannins. Somewhat spicy, medium finish. Little/no wood taste.
Mar 23, 2007Bogle Merlot, 2004
Ruby, spicy and aromatic.
Medium body, slightly tannic little/no oak.
Slightly sweet, cherry notes nice finish. Somewhat hot/spicy. Basically, a good wine. (kedem)
Mar 22, 2007Belvedere Merlot Healdsburg Ranches Organic
Major wine crytal clusters, he told me, were the first hint of a good taste to come. ...and hot damn, he was right! Delicious berry burst, with a nice aromatic mixture of woodsiness. Very smooth, just like my company for the evening! Cheers!
