Mar 30, 2007Simi Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley, 2003
Subdued nose, blueberry, strawberry, chocolate -- but just fleeting glimpses. Very weak. After a few more pours seemed to be opening up a bit, needs time/decanting? Some olives on the nose and tip of tounge.
Mar 30, 2007Gallo Of Sonoma Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 2003
Cherry, tobacco. Lush and fantastic ... nice spicy finish, not too small, not too big, just right
Mar 30, 2007Casa Lapostolle Cabernet Sauvignon Rapel, 2004
A little tired and plummy. But still nice integrated spice. Very easy, a quick finish. Tastes like a cheap cab, but still drinkable.
Mar 30, 2007Geyser Peak Sauvignon Blanc, 2006
Herbal and Pungent. Tangy and strong, did this blind and thought it might be an NZ. Notes of green tea.
Mar 30, 2007Merryvale Starmont Sauvignon Blanc, 2005
Lighter and more citrusy than the Nobilo NZ sauv blanc. Lemony, a sipper. But a bit astringent on the finish. Also, a bit effervescent on your tongue, possibly a flaw.
Mar 30, 2007Nobilo Regional Collection Sauvignon Blanc, 2006
tart, but not ridiculous. Pugnent and Strong. Grassy. This is a huge sauv blanc, but its not really my style - 85+
Mar 29, 2007Bv Napa Cabernet, 2004
A battle of fruits on the nose, with cherry pulling away with the early lead. Slightly tart but overall a fairly fresh and fruity taste. Finish is a little weak for a cab.
I don't love it, and I don't think it did very well living up to its price (yeah, I'm on the cheap side).
Mar 27, 2007Irony Pinot Noir, 2005
Earthy minerals, with a sweet blossom of fruit; especially, cherries. Brilliant aroma as well. This wine could pair well with anything, but would be magical if paired with your special person. Cheers!
Mar 23, 2007Kenwood Cabernet Sauvignon, 2003
Nice cherry and smoky mint upfront ... some spicy chipotle thing going on w/ the finish. Raisin and Plum. Very enjoyable.
Mar 23, 2007Franciscan Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Estate, 2003
Love it. Overall fave of the 3/22/07 tasting. Nice nose, perfect sipper.
Mar 23, 2007Casillero Del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon, 2005
Real nice solid easy drinking cab. Some oak and vanilla, but not overdone.
Mar 23, 2007Beaulieu Vineyard Merlot Coastal, 2004
Thin, annoying, and weak. The nose is tart/acidic and just not happening.
Mar 23, 2007Chateau Souverain Merlot Sonoma, 2004
Sweet. Weak candy apple nose w/ a finish that I wish was over.
Mar 23, 2007Chateau Ste. Michelle Merlot, 2003
Not a huge fan of the nose, a but a nice crisp mouthfeel. A bit thin.
Mar 23, 2007Bogle Merlot, 2004
Smooth tannins, nice integrated fruit. Smoky. Good finish, not long but short and sweet.
Mar 23, 2007Kenwood Cabernet Sauvignon, 2003
Purple, w/ nice clarity of color. Complex berries, spice, some oak, aromatic. Some oak, leather and tobacco. Nice finish, a sophisticated wine.
Mar 23, 2007Franciscan Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Estate, 2003
89+
Complex spicy bouquet, slightly oaky. Med/full bodied, drier and complex than other tasted cabs. A better wine for food pairing. Nice finish, more sophisticated. (kedem)
Mar 23, 2007Casillero Del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon, 2005
Smooth bouquet with tobacco and berries. Spicy and somewhat complex taste. Slightly hot, med/full body. Very drinkable.
Mar 23, 2007Beaulieu Vineyard Merlot Coastal, 2004
Moderate ruby color, slightly spicy aromatic more complex nose.
Medium body and somewhat tannic. Somewhat spicy, medium finish, little/no wood taste.
Mar 23, 2007Chateau Ste. Michelle Merlot, 2003
Dark ruby. Possibly corked? Raisins, med/full body old oak and/or relatively older wine? Musty and raisiny flavors. No special finish, somewhat spicy.
Mar 23, 2007Kenwood Cabernet Sauvignon, 2003
Do I like Cabernet? I guess so. This too, is drinkable. Curranty, It reminds me of something my dad would be excited about serving.
