Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Côtes du Rhône Mon Coeur 2005
 |
|
BN#199437 |
This family-run estate is considered by wine writer Tim Atkin to be one of the greatest Rhone producers. Gerard Chave has made wine since the tender age of just 17, and remains a man who does things in his own time regardless of commercial imperatives. His son Jean-Louis makes an unbroken succession from father to son since 1481. This wine bursts with the slinky red fruits of the Domaine, which have rounded out beautifully as the vineyard has grown up. A medium-bodied and supple wine, this is a classic Rhone blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre.

Racy and fresh, with lots of raspberry fruit backed by grilled herb and bright mineral notes. The long finish shows a nice stony persistence. Drink now through 2008.
Score: 90.
